Hutchinson Tournament

As the morning of February 7th began, I readied my son for his Tae Kwon Do tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. I dropped him off at Martial Arts Institute North. I offered a few words of encouragement as he found a seat in the MAI North van for the three hour drive to Hutchinson. I thought of him many times during the day and waited for his call after the tournament. The call came around 4:00PM. He won a first place trophy in sparring and a second place medal in forms. I’m actually more proud of him for the medal in forms as that is his weaker event. I was waiting for him when the van pulled up to MAI North later that evening. He was exhausted but full of stories of the day’s events. These are the memories that he will never forget and I am so proud of his accomplishments.
